Fynn Valley Golf Club, The Bar

The new club house under construction...

In early 2018 I was asked by a long standing customer for whom we have made many kitchen's for over the years if we would be interested in making the "bar" for the proposed new club house at Fynn Valley Golf Club near Ipswich. Having never made a bar on this sort of scale before I was interested in the challenge, it was a little outside our comfort zone but went about researching how we were going to make it. Lots of detail and trades to work with along with the crucial factor of timing! Firstly, I had to come up with a design, cost’s etc, much like a kitchen etc and then crucially how we were going to construct it. I did go out on a few occasions to look over bar’s, good excuse to leave the office for “research”, which, most were very nice. Seeing them from the customer’s side didn’t actually allow you much insight into how they had been made and as it turns out, every bar is unique and that goes for the construction as well. The bar we had to make had to be self-supporting, take all the utilities that were needed, for plumbing, electrics and pipes etc that the brewery had to install and the structure was only going to be around 300mm in depth!

plan,

It's a big bar...

strut,

We made this out of ply, gluing 2 pieces together for the strength required then routed out for the utilities to pass through but leaving enough so the “struts” would remain as rigid as possible without losing to much of it’s strength. We’d worked out how were going to construct it on site, having made the “struts” all we had to do is take them all and material’s to site and begin making the bar!

Arrived on site and started to get set up....

setup,

Starting on the first section....

 going to plan so far....

On with the next section...

some of the utilities going in...

Making the corner post so we can make the next section leading onto the reception area..

Looking ok from the outside of the working area, corner post fitted, the bar is taking shape...

This section is a coffee area, leading into the reception area...

Reception area being fitted out, cabinetry being fitted....

This is the end of the bar!...although not finished yet....

After many many hours of work it all came together.... back of reception

Front of reception, desks, electrics and networking in.....

Chiller display....

Getting ready for business...and our job is almost finished....

It was a massive project for us, although a small part of the overall project. Everything we supplied was made by SimplyWood, all from raw materials and manufactured at our premises. For myself Wayne, Patrick and Phillip I feel it was a very worthy experience. We worked with many other skilled tradesmen and businesses and was a pleasure to have been asked to take part in the project and working with a great team of people. We are sure that the new “Club House” at Fynn Valley Golf Club will be a great success and we wish them all the best.
